Mokume Gane (wood grain) earrings in sterling silver and copper
Mokume gane translates from the Japanese as 'wood grain'. It is metal working technique where two metals are worked together to give a wood grain like appearance. In this case it is sterling silver and copper combined to give that wood grain or perhaps animal print look. I hand cut circles from the mokume gane sheet and shape them before securely soldering the sterling silver post in place. As the mokume gane sheet has a sterling silver backing, the copper is never in contact with your skin (just in case you were worried about getting green ear lobes).
You have the option of two finishes, the polished silver and copper which reminds me of tiger stripes or the striking zebra. To achieve the dark zebra stripes the copper has been oxidised giving a high contrast between that and the shiny silver.
The dished, concave discs come in three size options: Tiny 4mm across, Small 6mm or Large 8mm. They are completed with a sterling silver butterfly backs
Each pair of earrings is unique so I have photographed the actual pair you will receive. Where more than one pair in a size/finish is available I've given them labels 'a', 'b' etc. When you select them from the drop down menus the corresponding image will display.
If the size or finish you would like is out of stock please use the notification option to be sent an email once more earrings are made. Earrings will be presented in a gift box.
